Victorious in Prayer: Moms in Prayer International

Women of SCC are invited to join Moms in Prayer on Saturday, August 2 from 9-11 a.m. in the Fireside Room for a morning of encouragement and empowerment as you learn to pray boldly for your children or grandchildren in school. The Bend-based non-profit, Furnish Hope, is holding a Home Essentials Drive here at SCC (in the parking lot) on Monday, July 21, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The most needed items currently are: dressers, bedside tables, twin & queen mattresses, pillows, bedding, and small dining tables & chairs. Women of SCC are invited to join a drop-in Bible study this summer for a light dive into various women of the Bible. Each week is independent of each other, and there is no homework. The Bible Study runs weekly on Thursdays from July 17-August 14, 9:30-11 a.m. in the Fireside Room.

Welcome to SCC: Newcomer’s Event

On Sunday, May 18, immediately following the 9:30 worship service, there will be a Welcome to SCC gathering in the Fireside Room from 11 a.m.-Noon, hosted by the pastors and elders. Light snacks will be served. This is an opportunity for anyone who has questions to interact with SCC leaders, whether you have been attending the church for a few weeks or a few years.

Regeneration Project

High schoolers, you are invited for a 1 day event, Regeneration Project, May 10 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. In cooperation with Breathe & Western Seminary, we will be tackling the major issues and topics of Christianity that students are desperate to address. The SCC Youth Ministry wants to actively engage the cultural questions and topics brought up as we discipline students into our mission and values as a church! In doing so we want to address these questions, doubts, and accusations from scripture within the context of community.

Cost: $25/student for the event ticket. We will carpool to the event together. We may leave the night before and stay at Willamette Christian Church (where the event will be held), or leave by 4:30 a.m. day-of. Please plan to bring extra money for dinner after the event.

Join us for a full day of training where we will address many of the big questions such as:

• Is the Bible and the church anti-women?

• If God is real and good, why is there so much pain and suffering? 

• Have we been interpreting the Bible wrong about homosexuality and gender? 

• The spiritual realm of tarot cards, horoscopes, and Wicca seems exciting to explore. Is it wrong? 

• Church hurts people – why go anymore? 

• And more to be announced!

• Whether you’re a dedicated Jesus follower, questioning, or an atheist, this event is for you!

Life Group Finder Event

Join our Life Group leaders and our Discipleship Pastor, Mark Seekins, on Sunday, April 27, for a Life Group Finder event. Good Friday Service

You are invited to SCC’s Good Friday service at 6 p.m. in the Worship Center on Friday, April 18.

Join us on April 6, 6 p.m. in the Fireside Room, for a Member Gathering at SCC. This is for all “members” of our church, and will be a time to celebrate what God has done in our lives and church, as well as introduce our newest members to the body. We will enjoy some fresh popcorn together as we focus on our members, hear some family business, and are challenged with a pastoral address.

The next session of GriefShare will begin on Thursday, April 3, and meets weekly from 6-8 p.m. at SCC in Room #5 (through June 26). GriefShare is a Christ-centered teaching focused  on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one.  The GriefShare program includes 13 weekly sessions comprised of a DVD seminar featuring nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories, followed by a group discussion about what was viewed. Participant workbooks provide structured daily devotions between weekly group meetings. Whether your bereavement experience is a recent one, or not so recent, you will find encouragement, comfort, and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family members, or friend. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and learn how to face your new normal and renew your hope for the future. Equipping Class: Apprentice

Apprentice is one of the four core or “equipping” classes here at SCC. The next 8-week series begins March 30, and runs through May 25 at SCC. This course is designed to get you started on your journey of spiritual formation, to help get you unstuck if you’ve stalled out, or just guide you into taking your next step. Ultimately, its goal is to train you to live as an apprentice of Jesus: to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did. This class will run from March 30 - May 25 for 8 weeks (not meeting April 20, Easter). Register your name, and we will get you connected with one of our team leaders for weekly meetings. There are several groups meeting on Sunday afternoons and evenings.

Sweetheart Banquet

Please join the Marriage Ministry for a Sweetheart Banquet on Saturday, February 22, from 6-8 p.m. at SCC for dinner and an evening to reconnect with your spouse. Women’s Bunco Night

Ladies, join The Women’s Ministry for Bunco Night on Friday, February 7, from 6-8 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Women and young ladies who are able to independently keep up with game play are welcome. Come enjoy light snacks and lively conversation with fellow sisters, and hear information about Sisters Cold Weather Shelter and Food Bank. All levels of Bunco experience are welcome, even if you’re new to the game! This will be a wonderful event to invite a friend or neighbor. Silver Saints Potluck

Walking Temple Series: Collide

SCC Youth Ministry is hosting a 7-week “Walking Temples” series for middle school students beginning in January. A healthy environment will be created weekly to have opportunity for teaching, discussions, and discipleship around important topics that the Bible clearly speaks to that bombard our teenage sons and daughters. They will explore what the Bible says about gender (male & female), personal identity, sexual integrity and design, and marriage. These are all topics that the current culture is training children to think about. The Youth Ministry wants to pro-actively lead students into God’s beautiful plan and design. The series will be hosted on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. in The Hangar, and will meet January 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26, and March 5. This will be a time for students to eat dinner, worship, hear and engage in meaningful teaching, and conclude in small groups or a Question/Response time. Parents will receive weekly handouts on that week’s teaching, and will have questions to go over with their student(s).
