SCC Elder Discussion: Lou Blanchard
Welcome back to the Sisters Community Church podcast! In this three-part series, we're taking an in-depth look at the role of elders within our church by introducing you to three elder candidates. These men have courageously stepped forward, opening their lives for examination as they feel called to lead and serve our church community.
In this episode, we focus on Lou Blanchard, a man whose life story is a testament to God's transformative power. Lou shares his journey from a religious upbringing to a life-changing conversion experience at the age of 40, where he and his wife both felt the profound call of Christ during a church service. This turning point in Lou's life set him on a path of deep faith and committed service to others.
Lou’s past year has been marked by significant trials, including his wife’s battle with cancer, the loss of his father in a tragic accident, and the challenge of overseeing the Sisters Cold Weather Shelter project. Despite these hardships, Lou has emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and readiness to serve as an elder. He speaks candidly about how these experiences have shaped his faith, deepened his reliance on God, and prepared him for leadership.
As Lou discusses his love for the church, he emphasizes the importance of building community, caring for the vulnerable, and living out the gospel in tangible ways. He also shares his vision for addressing some of the challenges facing our church, including the need for a deeper submission to Scripture and greater support for our older members as they approach the end of life.
This episode offers a powerful glimpse into the heart of a man who is ready to lead with humility, empathy, and a deep love for Jesus and His people. Join us as we get to know Lou Blanchard and gain insights into his journey of faith and service.
